Enoch Gausel
1903 - Enoch Gausel was a long term resident of 2713 12th Avenue South and probably was the original owner of this duplex.  The following biographical sketch of Mr. Gausel appeared in the Minneapolis Tribune on April 15, 1903:  “Enoch A. Gausel, president of the Plumbers’ Laborers’ Union, was born in the southern part of Norway June 16, 1859, and in the spring of 1886 came to the United States.  After landing at New York he came directly to Iowa, where he resided for one year.  He then removed to Minneapolis (1887) and has resided here ever since that time.  For fifteen years Mr. Gausel has been outside foreman for a large plumbing concern here in the city, and through continued hard work and study has put himself in such position that he is now accepted as authority on many of the questions arising in this line of work.  In the spring of 1899 when the move to organize a plumbers’ helpers’ union was made, Mr. Gausel was active in the work and it was largely through his work and influence that the union was organized and occupies the prominent position that it does today.  After it had been completely organized, the members of the union, as a sign of appreciation of the work Mr. Gausel had done, elected him to be their first president.  He has held this position since, with the exception of one term, and is at present a delegate to the Trades and Labor council.”
